Womb With A View

Womb with a view began with a chalk drawing of a tree, which I used to pass on my walks in town. The tree was very old and had a large cavity low down to the ground in which grasses were growing. I loved the space and the look, strength of the tree with the window to the inner world of the tree as well as its view outward.

I was learning to play with different media at the time and chose to portray it in inks, oils and finally in watercolors. When I began sculpting it seemed natural to add a fifth three-dimensional piece to the group, which I hope one day to enlarge.

Sadly the tree itself was already dying when I began painting it and was cut down after a bad storm hit the town.
