Studio show, HaCubia, 2016

This installation is an in-depth exploration of the 16 prototypical women found in the parasha of כי תצא למלחמה על אויביך.

These comprise most of the different ways in which a woman can become bound to, forbidden or separated from a man, beginning with laws governing the procedure when a captor decides to keep a female hostage following her capture and rape during wartime.

Though this Torah portion deals with many other issues, a feminist read reveals that it contains at least sixteen prototypes of the legalities of female – male relationships, among them: the afore-mentioned captive woman, women raped in the field or in the city, marriage, divorce, widowhood, and prostitution.
